Whining in the morning

hi there. I have an 8 month old chocolate lab puppy who has recently
started whining, yelping and barking non stop from between 4-5am and
the time I get up.  In the early days, I'd get up to let her out, but
she didnt always go.  We've lately taken to putting sheets over the
windows (it's quite bright from 4am), then putting her in her crate
and more recently putting a blanket over the front of the crate to
shield the light.

What are everyones experiences and do you have any suggestions on how
to train this out of her?

If you haven't yet tried this, tell your dog "No" in a firm tone with no
other speaking
to her when the behavior happens.  My lab sometimes cried at night and in
the AM
but just a few repeats of "No" stopped him for good.
