Is this the correct group to post to if you hate dogs?

Hear, hear.  My brother has such a dog, and he locks it in a crate for
eight hours a day (he goes home at lunch and lets the dog out to pee).
 I told him that it was cruel to do such a thing, but he said that
when he left the dog chained in the yard he barked so much that the
neighbors complained.  I think it's better not to have a dog at all
rather than own one and mistreat it.

In many public parks, it is illegal to have an unleashed dog.  Ever
called animal control?

Yeah, but people like the IDEA of pets more than the REALITY of

I always thought that if I hadn't ended up getting married, I prolly woulda
got a big dog instead.  I don't like them very much, because they are smelly
and messy, but  I like the idea of a large carnivore devoted to my
protection.
