Hi All,

We picked up the cutest bundle of joy on Saturday. He is an eight-week-old
black lab named Cooper and, to say the last, I'm smitten. He is our first dog.
I'll forward some pics to the photo site soon so you can see him. Just imagine
the cutest puppy ever and you won't be disappointed (OK, I may be slightly
biased!).

He has been better than I could have hoped. We were preparing for the worst,
but that hasn't happened yet. So far, no accidents in the house, he has slept
through the first two nights without a whimper and is taking to his crate
nicely. Someone please knock on wood (or ask your lab to chew on some!).

Cooper is from Little River Labradors in Ft. Payne, Alabama. His
uncle/cousin/stepbrother/something or another, Calvin, was the lab
representative at the Eukanuba Invitational that was on television this past
weekend. (Of course I held Cooper up to the TV so he could root for his
relative) We haven't decided if we are going to show Cooper, right now our
objective is to see just much one can spoil a puppy.

I have mostly been a lurker on this board for the past few months while I was
preparing to get a new lab puppy. Thanks for all the helpful advice, whether
you knew you were giving it to me or not. It has been very valuable in
preparing for him.

Between this board and reading every book I could find on Labs plus The Art Of
Raising A Puppy, I realize just how little I know. Of course, some say that
realizing how little you know is the first sign of intelligence.

Wish me luck with Cooper. I'm sure I'll be submitting questions for the group.

Keith

Congratulations to you and Cooper.  I saw the Invitational Dog Show and he
sure must come from good stock.

WOW, I watched that.  That's what prompted my question, "Does a Lab
every win?"   Calvin was a yellow.  Does Cooper resemble him?  Calvin
was a stocky dog.  Can't wait to see a picture of Cooper.  Wish you tons
of good health and good manners with Cooper.  Sounds like he's off to a
good start.  :-)
