Just because it's a Pit, doesn't make it some kind of killer, and it
doesn't mean it's a "superdog". My friend's Lab and Ridgeback mix would
probably be able to kill almost any Pit that ever lived, but he's a sane
dog, and would never attack anyone or any other dog.
There are bad Pits, sure, but most are made that way by the ***s who
own them.

The second time, I got bit by a friend of my sister's St. Bernard. I
don't know what happened, but he suddenly chomped on the back of my leg
and shook it. I yelled and he came at me again, and I got a chair and
was able to keep him away until he calmed down. About an hour later, he
tried to get me again.
And the third time, I was bit by the mutt next door who used to really
like me, but began having issues with one of my dogs. Some sort of
jealousy issue when my dog started climbing the fence to visit one of
the female dogs there. For some reason, he stopped liking me too.
None required stitches. And no suits were filed.
My Pit did get my hand once, when I tried to break up a fight between
him and a huge Shepherd who foolishly attacked him TWICE while we were
just walking one afternoon. The first time, he get chewed on a little,
and ran away, then he came back for a second try, when his owners came
out of the house they were visiting. I got my fingernail crushed by
accident, and nearly got bit by the Shepherd, but he was mainly trying
to save himself at that point, as he was losing badly. That was by far
the worst damage my dog ever did to any dog who attacked him. The
Shepherd needed a bunches of stitches to put his face back together
again. That dog had a history of attacking smaller dogs, but he picked
the wrong one to go after. My dog always took a lot of "hits' before he
retaliated, but once he was at that point, he wasn't kidding around
anymore, it was very serious.
No Pit/Pit mixes have ever even tried to bite me, even the one they had
at the humane society with the big "WILL BITE" sign I missed when I went
in with him. He rolled over on his back and got his stomach rubbed until
I was yelled at and shown the sign, on the other wall from him. It
turned out he had chewed on a kid who had poked him with a stick through
the fence. He got loose and went after the kid and paid him back a
little. He got a couple of stitches on his arm, but wasn't hurt all that
bad. The dog ended up getting out, and the owners took him out of state.
I'm much more relaxed around Pits than I am imported Shepherds, Rotts,
and Dobermans. There are several of each in the area and they all seem
to be a little too tightly wound. The ones bred here seem to be much
more laid back. One of the Shepherds now walks with a muzzle on after
several "incidents". He has a problem with people jogging, or kids
laughing. Why anyone wants a dog as hard as they are, I have no idea.

with respect that is an urban myth.
I do think pit bulls should be mated once in their lifetime though.
With a troll!!!!
