I think it's pretty obvious why company traffic involving company systems
is monitored. After all, companies aren't democracies.

Finally, I should point out that all the people at both sites were told
repeatedly that Internet email was being monitored; this includes all
traffic picked up by my JobTalk analytic:

It is part of an attack on sci.crypt. The attacker has decided
that in order to amplify his tens of thousands of messages to
sci.crypt, he will cross-post to random other newsgroups, and
thus cause thousands of replies such as yours.

Please resist the temptation of replying to these kinds of
messages, as it only harms the victim of the original attack
even more. If you can filter messages cross-posted to
sci.crypt please do so, as I'm sure these attacks will
continue.
