her climbing on my bed or something and i dont want to put her outside cause
she is used to being in a warm house . So can someone help me and let me know
what to expect the day or couple days before arrival ?also if i put old
blankets down and start telling her to stay will that help her to know where to

a great book available at most pet supplies that is a HUGE help with stuff
like this and the many other questions the pups will bring is called the
Dog Owners Home Veterinary Handbook by Carlsen and Giffen - well worth
buying and reading the chapters on whelping and puppy raising and puppy
care plus parasites and other issues. Not hard to read like some vet texts
can be and very informative.
I suggest you dig around and find a kids wading pool to put in a quiet warm
area and layer it with newspapers and a couple of blankets and encourage
her to stay there. Birthing is messy business and Rotts have lots of pups!
You must keep the area under her clean and dry and make sure the pups are
kept warm (but not too hot so if you use a heating pad make sure they can
get off of it) or else they may die.
Tails and dewclaws should be removed at 2-3 days old and mom should have a
post partum check at the vet at that time too. She maybe could be wormed
then too.
good luck its a LOT of work having pups!
Nancy

Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where is your breeder? Don't you think you should be
asking her for help with this?I will answer this for the poor dogs sake.
The average pregnancy is 9 weeks from the first breeding. You should make a
whelping box out of wood approx. 4'x6' line it with newspapers, alot of papers.
when she is finished put new papers down and a sheet or blanket over that and
change daily. I hope you are there to assist the *** in whelping her pups as
afew of them can get stuck and need assistance from you to get out. Some
Rottweilers dont clean, cut the cord or get them breathing, you will have to do
that if this is the case with your Rottweiler. You could end up with dead
puppies and or a dead mom if you arent present at the birth. I wish your dog
luck.

Yikes.  Have you talked to your veterinarian yet?  If not, you should
do so NOW.  You need to learn how to take her temperature, and what
signs of labor to look for.  You also need to learn what is normal and
what is not, and what to do if your *** has trouble.

She will anyway (climb on the bed or other inappropriate place).  You
coax her into the whelping box.  You put the puppy she has on your
good bedspread into the whelping box, get her to follow it there.

No, you may have to move her and you may have to move the pups to an
appropriate place.

An appropriate place is a whelping box.  When I was a kid you were
supposed to build one, a rectangular or square "bed" which we lined
with newspapers.  These days I hear people are using kid's rigid
plastic swimming pools, which is a great idea.  I would wonder what
you do for pig rails -- a rail all around the inside of the box, that
prevents the *** from accidentally crushing or smothering a pup
against the wall of the box.  Forget the blankets for now and save
LOTS AND LOTS of newspapers.  Put a LOT of newspaper down in the
whelping box, not just the sports section but a whole New York
whatever or several ordinary city papers.  Whelping is a messy
business, you will appreciate the papers as you clean up by folding up
the top sheets of newspaper.

Make sure you keep the bos in a warm place, also.  Some breeders put a
cover or sort of tent over the box at first, to help keep in heat.
Others use heat lamps, or just keep the whole puppy room at 80
degrees.  Talk to your vet!  You'll want a post-delivery checkup for
your *** even if all goes perfectly.
