Our new addition

Post by Michell » Tue, 21 Dec 2004 01:35:22

Hello again.
We went to the boxer rescue yesterday and we now have a new addition
to our family.  What an absolutely wonerful dog he is!!  He is the one
that I told you about that had the botched crop job on his ears.  I
just wanted to thank you for your help in answering my question, and
let you know how happy we all are, especially Sonny (formerly known as
Leon).

Congratulations!  Boxers are generally great dogs.

Another good name would be Evander, a boxer who received a
botched ear cropping job from Mike Tyson.

That was my idea, but it was rejected....    My husband wanted to name
him Van Gogh but the kids rejected that too.   I came up with Sonny
because it's like I have a new son and he is the color of a golden
sun.

Congratulations to all of you!  Don't forget a Christmas stocking for your
new edition.  A couple of pig's ears and a 'bully stick' would be a Boxer's
dream come true.

Disclaimer: Prepare yourself & your family for fumes emition after giving
pig ears.  I've found that a quality scented candle, a can of air freshener,
and a strong constitution helps knock the edge off Boxer gas (Boxer Pig Ear
Gas is 10x worse).  Clothes-pinning your nose is another option :)

Great minds think alike and are rejected alike.

Heh, I like the ear theme.  "Vincent" would have been good, or
"Star" for the Don McLean song about Van Gogh.

That works perfectly!  I hope that you'll put some pictures up
on a web page.

could see past his ears and into his heart.

I had just bought a brand new doggie paw stocking this past week with
little goodies to put inside...   he is already very spoiled.   On the
way home, we stopped off and bought a doggie bed and some food.  We
didn't want to get this before hand because we didn't know what his
diet was or how big of a dog we would have.

ahhhh, the gas....  yes, we experienced a bit of it on the way
home....   I am so grateful that it was a warm day and the windows
could be rolled down!!
He needs basic obedience....  but is extremely well behaved and
brilliant!!

I'll see what I can do about the pics, but we don't have a web page,
and I haven't a clue as to how to make one...   I have an idea through
yahoo that I'll try.

Thanks for supporting Box rescue and giving a rescue doggie a chance.  He
will reward your kindness a thousand times over.

Many you have many happy, healthy years ahead together with your new pooch!

I am sure that he is one Boxer whose Christmas dream of a new home and
family to love him just came true!

All the best,

Lea

I cannot believe that no one wanted him!!   After the initial
exitement he calmed right down.   The workers there said that the
people who looked at him either thought he was too high strung or they
had small kids and wanted an older dog.   For us he is perfect.  We
have 4 kids that haven't given him a moments rest!!

I think so too....   and what a personality he has....   he knows what
he wants, and especially what he doesn't want!  He does not like going
outside alone at night, I'm hoping he gets used to going out and doing
his business alone soon.
