"BTW, did you know that there are more sociopaths per capita
up here in the good ole PNW than anywhere else in the
weirdoes are everywhere. I just have such a reaction when it
comes to little kids....and I learned from last night's
news, that the guy who supposedly did this, is on parole
from King County, in Washington State. I felt a little safer
when I could believe that most of the weirdoes, where down
in Ca. somewhere, but no, we have our own home-grown ones
too. I haven't heard any updates on the condition of the 5
year old. Has anyone else heard?

don't particularly want to believe it, but I've certainly
heard it......and I went to grade school with the (later)
I-5 killer, who was known by the name of "Rockhead Rocky",
when we were in the third grade. Lois E.
I don't think I would say there are more.. there are so many
more people now, the percentage is probably about the same.
And there is so much more media hype, to say nothing of new
and improved ways for law enforcement to cooperate and
discover that apparently isolated and random incidents are
really part of a larger pattern of one individual.
If there are indeed more weirdos, I would attibute much of
that to uninvolved parents and the lack of work ethic/
expectations from younger people, and the fading of the
extended family. I know its trite to say things were
different when one was young, but I and most of the people I
knew when I was growing up simply didn't have time to get
into serious trouble. Not that I'm advocating child labor,
but everyone needs to learn responsibility and a sense of
ethics. No one is born that way. Children will learn, and
what they learn, good or otherwise, is the responsibility of
