First Aid Kit for Dogs!!

Post by Isabel Gord » Sat, 12 Aug 1995 04:00:00

Hi There:
I recently purchased a first aid kit I liked so much that I actually
wrote the people who make it and asked for permission to post here about
it!  Some of you may know me from the Prodigy Dogs BB, but this  kit is
excellent for dogs or cats. These kits include step  by step "how to"
guides created by experienced people in the vet health care field to
prepare pet owners for cuts, bruises, bleeding, wounds, trauma,
gastrointestinal upsets, poisoning, insect bites, eye and ear problems,
muzzling, moving injured dogs, fever and temperature taking, fractures
and splints, rashes, skin irritations, vomiting and diarrhea,CPR,chest
massage,*** and tons of other stuff! Each kit
even has 24 hour telephone hot line stickers for emergency contact with
the National Pet Poison Control Center. These  kits are used by places
like Bide A Wee Shelter, US Customs Canine Enforcement, many Dog Club
members, major vet supply companies and tons of vets all over the country.

I am good friends with the Director of the Responsible Dog Owners
Association NY Chapter), Ann Lettis and she told me how impressed she was
with these kits and most of all with the documentation they contain (not
the old generic kind like other kits have). I got mine from her on the
spot! I dont know about you, but when I am out with my dogs, I sure like
knowing I am ready for whatever they can get into or whatever can get
into them <G>I have ordered a couple of the smaller kits as gifts for the
holidays for my favorite doggie people. Since there are two sizes of kits
(the 4 different specialty kits and the deluxe which contains those and
lots of other things), I figure $35
for a gift like this is great...I mean how many doggie toys can my dog
friend use?? I even decided to bypass the usual trophy donations of
trinkets and instead donate one of these kits for puppy classes...hmmm,
the deluxe kit would be great for the bigger wins. If you want any info
on this, like exactly what is in each, let me know. I just thought I
would tell you all about this. Take care,

Isabel,

Please let us know where we can get this wonderful kit and how to contact
the company for more information. It sounds like someone did a wonderful
job in putting something useful and needed together for us pet owners.

Thanks!

First Aid Kit for Dogs!!

Post by Isabel Gord » Sun, 13 Aug 1995 04:00:00

Hi Rick: Yep! someone sure did put alot of thought into this. Lets face
it, how many times havent we thought of how important it is to have a kit
like this. But time is usually so short we dont put it together. And if we
do, there is usually something missing. <G>. I am posting the contents
and prices of all the kits available in response to so many replies I got
on this. The response has been so extensive that I called the gentleman
at PetScriptions (Long Island, NY---near me) and told him I would be
happy to become a 'rep'. I have never even been an Avon lady because I
dont believe in selling people a bunch of stuff they dont need! But this
is something which I believe is important and well put together.
Ironically, I was reminded of that yesterday when Kizzy (my 13 wk old
Boxerbaby) was trying to dig her way to Australia and instead only
managed to disturb an angry colony of ants! I used the Insect Sting
section of my kit and was pleased to see how minimal the rash was....
Boxers are notorious for being sensitive to stings/bites..they get alot
of hives!  I will post you a separate note with all the info. Anyone who
wants any of the kits can either order by giving me an address to send
you an order form which you can send directly to the company or to me.
Oh! when I spoke to the man this morning, I suggested a tick removal tool
and he agreed!! So thats one more thing that will be included in the kits
:-).
Take care, Isabel and the BoxerKids

First Aid Kit for Dogs!!

Make sure your kit has a muzzle.  An injured dog can bite out of fear or pain.
We currently carry two, one that we know fits Ivan and a smaller, adjustable one
(at least until Bonnie is old enough to fit a permanent one).

Just a reminder, from one who has had the stitches.
