I'm looking for a list of food feed/not-feed your dog? Thanks.
Fortunately, very few foods commonly consumed by people are poisonous
to dogs. The most important foods NOT to feed your dog are
chocolate and ***; they can lead to disastrous health effects, including
-- dogs do not assimilate raw starch; it must be cooked to
-- raw meat can contain harmful parasites
-- about 80% of all dogs are allergic to cow's milk, though many
dogs can eat other dairy products with no problems (cheese, etc)
-- as with people, overfeeding of any food can result in serious health
problems for dogs resulting from obesity.
Whether the dog's diet consists of commercial food, so-called "human" food,
or both, the most important nutritional principle is to provide
a balanced diet that meets canine nutritional needs.
Canine nutrition has been researched for at least half a century.
While there is always room for improvement, science has provided
a pretty good basic understanding of the nutrients needed by
dogs and in what ratios they are required.
