My stuff; your stuff; whose stuff?

Post by Chris Willia » Thu, 15 Mar 2001 12:12:19

How do your dogs treat your possessions?  Just noticed a difference in
mine.
I often spread papers out over the bed to work.  When Granny climbs
up, she has total disregard for them and flops anywhere.  Li'l Pip
actually looks for a nice pile to lie down on.  But Mac?  He scans the
scene, then contorts himself into a pretzel to fit among the piles
without touching them.
   Wonder why the difference.

Maybe Mac just doesn't like the crinkley sound or the texture or perception
of lost footing?

You're probably right.  I was attributing it to his acute awareness.

Ain't it the truth!    I think we overestimate our power and
influence over them.

Scene:  Shannon wrapping (or trying to wrap) Christmas presents.  She
spreads the paper on the floor, and gets up to look for the tape.
Come back, and Guinness has put himself, perfectly centered on the
wrapping paper, with his bone.  Guess he thought he was my present!

Guiness shows no interest, unless it's my "going outside" clothes, then
she's all over me, sniffing & ready to go out!
Coda, I think he has the philosophy, "What's yours is mine & what's mine is
yours".   If  I'm reading on the bed, he'll come in, sniff things over, then
plop down & put a paw on the magazine or book.   Alot of times, he'll bring
a stuffed toy with him & flop it down for me.   But, I just give him *the*
look, and he removes it.  (He's just asking for acknowlegement & attention,
IMO).
But the cats?   Forget.   If you're using it, they want it or want to lie on
it.

He is, Shannon.  He is.  Every year.

Do yours have a special fondness for keyboards?
Thank heaven there are a lot at yardsales, since one lasts here only a
couple of weeks.  As I type this, one cat is lying on my hands, bobbing
up and down, her eyes half-closed in enjoyment.

Yup, you're right.

I chuckle to remember, but when I was pregnant (and viciously sick for
all 9 months of it), and strong smells would make me heave, the scent of
my dog always made me feel better.  I could always just bury my face in
his fur and get a moment's relief.  Even his dog breath didn't bother
me.

Nikita thinks what is mine is his, and what is his is his. :)

Budd simply likes to shred anything he can come into contact with.

Chance won't mess with anything untill I give it to him.

Nope, Little lies on top of the monitor.  It's nice & toasty warm up there
(I'm sure the fan is clogged with cat-hair!)   And Kaytee, she lies on the
bathroom rug next to where I sit, right on the other side of Coda.  :-)
Guiness lies in the doorway to the hall.   We're all one happy family, I
move, they move (except for Little, if we can't find her, she's on the
monitor)

Oh jeez!   I think this past year, I baby gated off the kitchen & did my
wrapping in there!   Guiness wanted to be in the way, and Coda wanted to eat
the bows.
