About a month ago I put out an urgent request for info on canine
congestive heart failure. My 11 yr old blue merle Collie, Lady Blue,
had contracted CHF and was in A-fib as well. People from all over the
US and Canada e-mailed me with valuable information which I passed on to
I AM OVERJOYED TO REPORT THAT ON THIS CHRISTMAS EVE, LADY BLUE IS VERY
MUCH ALIVE AND DOING WELL, THANKS IN PART TO ALL OF YOU WHO CARED!!
We decided to initially try the least amount of medication and started
with 25mg of Lasix twice a day as well as limiting her salt intake.
Her response has been nothing short of a miracle. She has regained her
personality and energy as well as becoming the "queen bee" of the pack
with her newly conferred "couch privileges". Her skin/coat problems
are even now reversing... she looks and acts like the dog I had several
years ago. (As I write this, she has came in and nuzzled my hand,
then went off to the kitchen to have a snack out of the feeder.) We
are keeping the more agressive recomendations in reserve for use as her
heart weakens in the future.
I apologize for not getting this update out sooner... computer & mail
server problems has made my e-mail unreliable until now. During the
holidays I hope to personally thank every one of you that cared enough
to help by sending their advice or to let me know that they were
thinking of us. Your love and concern is only outweighed by the One
who cared enough for us to send his Son almost two thousand years ago.
THANK YOU all again. And THANKS for helping Lady Blue to be with us
this Christmas. I sincerely hope that I can someday return the
kindness that you showed us. (I'm in the process of creating a
homepage with Lady Blue's picture on it... I'll post the URL here when
