Schnauzer with the Flu??

Post by The Howard » Wed, 29 Dec 1999 04:00:00

My mini 8 month old schnauzer was at the vets just before christmas for
3 days.  We took her in because she was vomitting and not eating.  They
did all the tests ($600) and said she had the flu.  Sent us home with a
drug to settle her stomach and some soft high protein food. We thought
we had this***ed.  She was eating relatively well for her.  (She has
never been  a big eater)  Until last night it started again in the
middle of the night.  Wanting to go out, tummy rumbling alot, shaking
and generally moaning and feeling bad.  We gave her some of the medicine
and she seemed to calm down but is still really tired and hasn't eaten
today.   Any suggestions??

She had all those tests while at the vets for 3 days.  *** and urine
tests all normal.  We have since talked to the breeder and he says yes
they do get the flu.  Treatment is as you would treat a child - broth
etc.  She seems on the way to recovery now.  She is bouncing around and
eating her normal food and sleeping through the night.  Thank goodness.
