lupus

My eight year old german shepard has been diagnosed with lupus. His
snout has lost all of its hair and is scabby and bleeds a lot. Our vet
put him on prednisone which made him very miserable. We took him off the
meds and his nose got bad again. We are searching for some topical or
***treatment that will help him but not make him miserable.Any
suggestions are appreciated.

my border collie / australian blue heeler has "collie Nose"

it is a form of discoid lupus

she is on Neo-Medrol creme

it is an antibiotic / prednisone creme

it doesn't completely clear it up but it keeps it under control

lupus is triggered by the sun so try to keep your dog inside betwenn 11
and 3 when the sun is it's brightest

this used to only be seen on farm dogs who were outside 24 hours a day
(hence the name)

with the depletion of the ozone layer it is being seen more and more
