Looking for a Search and Rescue person in Ohio

Post by MsMart » Mon, 28 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hi, lost our new dog that we just got, a Shetland Sheepdog, male, 5
years old, unneutered, escaped from our fenced in back yard today, not
from this area. We would like to know of any Search and Rescue people in
Ohio (Columbus, to be exact).

We found our lost cat with some info we got off net, and so, we need
your help, please!

Please, PLEASE, no flames!!!! We are frantic and heartbroken.

Marti

On the internet, www.pethunters.com can find someone on your area to
find your dog.  Good luck!

You're less than ten minutes from me, and my daughter runs near Scioto HS
every morning. Will keep out eyes opened (BTW, the word is already out with
rescue people, I got a note earlier today)

It is absolutely critical that when new dogs are brought home they should
be microchipped or tatood and wearing collar ID tags.   A real must.
Also, it is a good idea to be outdoors with them the first few days - maybe
even on leash - to prevent escape.   Leave them indoors, inside a crate,
when you must leave them alone.

Most all rescue dogs will attempt escape at any and all opportunity until
they are strongly bonded with their new permanent family.   It is
imperative to watch them closely and block all escape routes.

Good luck in finding your sheltie.   Shelties can be very ellusive -
difficult or impossible to catch - when running in a panic.    Call Sheltie
Rescue and let them know you have lost the dog.

wondering.. why would a 5 year old rescue not be neutered?

they didn't say he was a rescue.  he may have come from a
breeder who didn't neuter him first or he may have come from a
shelter that doesn't do pre-adoption speutering.  or, he could
have come from someone who was "getting rid of" their dog.
