my dog has "flu" like symptoms

Post by ron » Mon, 29 Dec 2003 07:44:19

3 days ago she was thowing up.  Now she refuses to eat, but will drink
and stay hydrated.  She is lythargic and has no energy.  She is 7
months old.  Is this just a "k-nine" type flu?

I would strongly recommend a visit to the vet.  This is certainly not
typical for a puppy.

Is she up to date on her series of puppy vaccinations?

.........Dogs don't get people flu, but can get viruses going around.  Does
she chew on things and eat them?  How long has it been since she's eaten?
What did her poops look like?  I'd get to the vet.  If she's making any
stool take it along (must be fresh or refrigerate until going to the vet).
It's entirely possible she's eaten something that blocked her.

My dog has the same symptoms but the vet is stumped.  How did the vet find
the blockage, X-rays?  Been 3 days and if I don't get him to eat soon I
could lose him.  Any help appreciated.

......Don't know in this instance, but X-rays can often find a blockage.
Sometimes the dog has eaten something you can't see by X-ray like nylons or
fish bones.  I think ultrasound can find those.   Have you had ***work
done?  What has the vet done exactly?   Time to find one who wants to help
your dog.
