Hey all,
I'm sure you've all heard by now about the "Bubble Boy" virus. You don't
have to open an attachment just comes in with your e-mail.

I'm not opening it, and hub is gonna have to check this out when he gets
home. He's the puter whiz. I was just wondering if anyone else got this one
yet. I assume it's from posting in the dog groups, because of the 'vet'
part. Just be really careful of ANY e-mail with anything like bubble.boy or
b.boy for now. If you have received it and opened it, I don't have any idea
what it really does but DH sez it's a *** one.
I'm also not reading any e-mail as I can't get the danged settings back
to NOT automatically display message. PITA!!!! So I'm not ignoring any
private e-mail just not opening it.

So, so, so, so glad to own a Mac.  Of course at work it's all-l-l-l WinDoze.  Someone tell me _again_ why 90% of users think that OS is such hot poop?

Sorry, but it's too wierd to me that a system has riled with bugs and problems and security ca-ca (not to mention that it cost MORE in the long run, not less) isn't that LEAST use, not the MOST used.

Yup -- it's times like this I get to sit back & smile at the people who
say they just _have_ to have Winblows because otherwise they couldn't see
all the "cute" stuff people send them (.exe files). :-/

Gee, maybe it's because there are 90% more software titles available, a
lower cost, more innovation, variety and features...

Yeah, and to go with it, a whole lot more quirks and unreliability. And
the only reason it has more software is marketing, not cause of any sort
of superiority.

Funny, it seems it is the pc lovers that seem so brainwashed (and want to
brainwash other people).

I actually have nothing against PC, or didn't until I  decided to
switch to PC from Mac and decided that my fast ass PC was less stable and
more quirkier than my 5 year old, slow (because it was old) Mac which even
without as much software compatibility still did everythign I *needed* it
to. The only advantage the PC has is games really and I swear it is now
not running them as fast as it did new (it keeps getting slower and
slower, never noticed my Mac ever doing that).

Yah but its a good reason not to have your e-mail\internet running shared code
both ways with your OS.

My whole business is MS OS's but would never let anyone run Office2000 or
Outlook .  We have a couple of standalones that can convert Word etc to other
formats......

Most experts will agree that "quirks and unreliability" are more likely to
be hardware issues rather than software problems (e.g. not enough memory,
low quality periferrals, etc.). My first system was built using inferior
parts and it gave me all kinds of errors and performance problems. My latest
system was built using high quality, name brand parts and I don't have a
*** of trouble with it. I will give Apple credit though, they do use high
quality components in their systems, but on average you pay 1/3 more than
you would for a comperable PC equivalent.

Marketing doesn't influence a company's decision as to what platform they
will invest their time and money into, it's the potential for the highest
return on investment. I think it's a no-brainer that most software
developers go where the money is, i.e. the 90% PC marketshare. Marketing
comes into play AFTER the the product is developed and is ready to sell to
consumers.

I do agree that when comparing apples to apples there is no superiority
between one OS or another, essentially they all get the job done. Yet you
Mac-ies insist on looking for any opportunity to berate "Windoze". I guess
when you're drowning you'll grab onto anything that appears to float.

Yeah, it SEEMS that way doesn't it? In reality, I find myself being the
defender, not the instigator, of misguided Mac Attacks.

When was the last time you were in a store that sells computer software?
There are tons more of EVERY type available exclusively for PC users.

Finally, I apologize for referring to Mac owners as zealots, they are
actually fanatics.

:

if you want reliability, get a Unix (such as Linux).  unfortunately, you'll
spend years learning how to use it - although apparently MacOS X is Unix
with the Mac front-end (when it comes out).  the reason PCs are prevalent is
because IBM, in the '80s, opened the PC up to the free market, meaning lots
of incompatibilities, but low prices, whereas Apple retained control,
meaning strict adherence to the Mac philosophy, but higher prices.

i find Mac and Unix users much worse ;-)

thorough scandisk and defrag? (Start/Programs/System Tools).

Anyway, enough of such off-topic nonsense, bring on the dawgs!!

-Zealots, fanatics, whatever.  I've had PC's and Macs since '84 and
there's no comparison.  I never could understand why Mac didn't sue when
Microsoft blatantly and poorly imitated the look and feel of the Mac
operating system.  Hmmm, maybe because they're a monoply and too big to sue.

I used Linux (Red Hat) for months and months - had to go back to Windoze
for a job using different wp software.

I LOVED Linux!  I used WP8 for Linux, and it converted to wp5.1 for DOS
better than Win WP7 converted to Wp5.1.  And my system never, never,
never crashed or "hung up."

Lucky you! :) I use Linux Red Hat almost every day in my programming labs, and
those blasted environments are always freezing. I like UNIX-based environments,
though.  I also like Mac and Windows. :)
