We've got a 7 week old black lab pup and are going
insane trying to decide on a name. Lets here your
suggestions or see your lists of dog names, common
        clever, stupid or whatever.

        thanks for the creativity!

Our last family dog a.k.a. Perfect Dog (R.I.P.) was a beautiful
        black lab.  I wanted to call her Spot, as in one continous black;
or Killer but my family said no.  Eventually we settled on Robin
because she was the companion of an older tri-colored collie who
sort of looked like she had on a batman cape.  I started calling
her Robinowitz and somehow she ended up being called Binski.  No
matter what we called her she was one of the all time greatest.
Hope you have many years of joy together.

I've always thought Raven was a sharp name for a black lab!

Congrats on the lab pup. No matter what the final name is, you'll
probably end up calling her/him several names, depending on mood
or situation. My lab's name was Lefty but he was called Holmes,
Gas-Man, Marmaduke, Moose, and many others. Whatever gets used
most often after a while will probably stick.

Well, my Black Lab/White Shepherd Mix is named Raven.  A wonderful name
IMnsHO.  She was 10 weeks old when I got her and she was shiny and jet
black, so I named her "Jet".  But for some reason it really didn't suit
her just right, so I looked up "black" in the thesaurus.  That's where
I came across "Raven" and it fit perfectly.  My next choice is still
"Jet".
