new staffy pups help wanted

Post by fevsnuf » Mon, 26 May 1997 04:00:00

We just bought 2 male Staffy pups from the same litter, which will be
neutered (when the age is right) and have been informed that 2 male dogs
growing up will not work out.
Does anyone know if this is true? Why? They are brothers and will be
together.

Because they're pit bulls and were bred to rip each other's throats out.
Duh!

Nope, AmStaffs are not APBTs.  They've been bred to be more accomodating to
other animals and can get along just as well (or not) with other animals as
other aggressive AKC breeds.  Oh, and BTW, fighting "Pits" are not bred to
'rip each other's throats out' and in real pit fights, there's rarely a
death.  And, in any case, the fight would (more than likely) be stopped if
anything even remotely resembling a serious injury occured.

This MAY not work out, since *** males of ANY breed may not 'get along'.
It's pack  *** more than anything.

You can find FAQs and bull-breed info at http://www.moonsgarden.com/
I'm assuming you mean American Staffordshire Terrier, not the
Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
I also have a few AST links on my APBT link page.
As far as problems with neutered males, they will try to dominate each
other to figure out their rank, but unless *** is drawn I wouldn't worry
about it.
General obedience training and a firm hand should keep things in order.
Good Luck!
