What Kind of Dog Am I?

The story:
I'm on my way up to pick up a friend this morning.  I leave Narrowsburg on
my way to Hankins and on the way I see this white dog wandering around the
road.  It's a state route with cars and trucks whizzing by at 50 mph.  The
dog looks dumbfounded.   I slow down.  A car in the southbound lane misses
the dog by two feet.

I'm concerned for the dog.  He's just*** out on the road - nonplussed.

Another car comes up behind me.  I slow down get out of my truck and grab
the dog before he becomes part of the road.

The dog doesn't run away or bark.  I put the dog into the cab of my truck
and drive to the local newspaper figuring maybe they can take a photo of the
pooch and get in touch with the town clerk.

We live in a rural area.

I ask the receptionist if they'll take the dog in.

"I don't know." she says "The publisher is on the phone."

I tell her that I'm late for an appointment and to ask him when he gets off
the phone.

I take the dog up to Hankins to see my friend and tell him why I'm running
late.   I then turn 'round and go back to Callicoon and back to the
newspaper to find out what his response would be.

In comes a man and I tell him my story.  He looks out the window to where my
truck is parked and says he knows the owner of the dog.  Tells the whole
office the owners name!

He takes the pup and I'm on my way to pick up my friend back in Hankins and
check out the flow on the West Branch.     It was a real cute dog.

If anybody has any idea what this breed of dog is, I would greatly
appreciate it.

Many thanks,
Tony Ritter

I would say some type of a terrier? Maybe a terrier / poodle mix?
All I know is that it looks like my mother-in-laws 1 year old yorkie, except
this white.
Cute dog though.   =)

Can't really tell from the photo. Little White Dog? Maybe a Poodle, Maltese
or a mix thereof?

To all,
Many thanks to all your responses.

Somebody on a flyfishing newsgroup mentioned:

Bichon Frise

I did a image search on google of that breed and it looks pretty similar.

Thank you.

That was my first guess, but the picture of the dog is too small!

However, you, the truck and the dog look very good together.

Thank you.

The dog was better behaved than some of my fishing customers.
Best...

Hi Tony,
Awww, what a cutie. I'd say a poodle, maybe a  poodle cross, but
definately a poodle face. She looks just like our Misty, a white
mini/toy  poodle.
You were really a good guy to stop and help her out. Thanks.
