how to get rid of fleas in bed

Post by Eric Weissberg » Sat, 16 Sep 1995 04:00:00

Howdy,
My brother and his dog, which has fleas, were visiting last week.  The
dog sat on my bed, and now there are fleas in it.  How can I get rid of them?
They are a real nuisance.
                        Thanks!

If the fleas are in your bred, rest assure dthey are probably else-where
in your house and are breeding up a storm.

First of all, vaccum as often as you can, and throw out the vacuum bag or
the *** fleas will crawl back out.  Go to your local pet store and by
flea spray...get one with an IGR (Growth regulator) in it.  Spray the house,
wait a wekk and spray again.  This should do it.

I use Ortho Total home flea control.  It comes in a gallon jug with a sprayer.
I spray it directly on the mattress (both sides) and let it air out.  I also
treat the rest of the house.  Before I found this product, I had to call
professionals, but since discovering this 2 years ago, I've managed to keep
the house completely flea-free without professional help.

YOu have to really spray the right places - flea larvae and eggs like
areas with little traffic, out of the way  and dark (ie UNDER beds, BEHIND
chairs,
etc.)  There is no point just spraying the areas that you use often
because the problem is under furniture, etc.
Good luck!
