Hello...I'm a relative newbie.

I am looking for "climbing" orchids that I would be able to grow on a
24" tree fern totem by mounting the plant at the bottom of the totem and
letting it grow upwards from there. I do have a specimen of Notylia
barkeri mounted on driftwood, which I could attach to the base of the
totem, but I am unsure if this plant will grow big enough to reach the
top.

Any help anybody can offer and any pointers as to how I may be able to
obtain these plants would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Gabe

There are several orchids that will 'populate' your tree fern but climbing
is a different matter. The Vanilla will almost certainly outgrow the totem
and requires warmth. You might be better off with Oncidium or Bulbophyllum
or other 'sympodial' orchids.
The best poiter is to attend an orchid society meeting and see the various
plants members have mounted rather than potted.
