Red things on Cherry leaves??

Post by Tera Mosk » Sun, 16 May 1993 02:45:13

I recently planted the root stock of a extra-dwarf bing cherry tree. It
started sprouting leaves very nicely. However, now that some of the leaves are
fully formed, I've noticed that they have two or three little bright red
lumps of something on the stem of the leaf (at the place where it joins the
branch). The lumps don't move like bugs, but they look sticky. At first it was
only a couple of leaves. Now, it's almost all of the fully formed ones. Also,
I've noticed a few thin spider type of webs between leaves (that I know is
something). Are the red lumps (about the size of the head of a pin) something
to worry about, or am I just a plant hypochondriac? If it is something, can
someone tell me how to get rid of them? I have no problems with chemical
methods.
