Mayday tree dropping little yellow leaves

Post by Daryl T » Sun, 15 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Hi. I have a Mayday tree that has been dropping an awful lot of little
yellow leaves all summer long. It is about 6 years old and has not done
this before. It has been wetter than usual this year (yes, it's true!)
and the tree appears to have grown more this year than in previous
years.

Is this normal? If not, what might cause this? Any ideas?

Daryl.

I don't know a "Mayday" tree.  Could it be Mayten?
It looks something like a small weeping willow.
If so, then probably the tree is not getting a chance to
dry out between rains.  It likes good drainage.  Or has
it been cooler than usual?  They drop leaves in a cold
snap. Also it likes full sun.  So in general, I would say
that the weather is probably the cause.  Not much
you can do about that. They seem to recover pretty well.
