Norfolk Island Pine not doing well

Post by Garry Kibl » Wed, 21 Jan 1998 04:00:00

My daughter has a Norfolk Island Pine, only about 12 inches, that's
not doing well. It seems to be staying green, but is starting to
droop, and become hard and brittle.

She is following the instructions that came with it, to only water
once a week, and trying to get it as much light as possible, although
in her room, that's not much.

Can anyone tell me what we might be doing wrong, or where this
question might be better posted? Thanks for any suggestions.

Is your climate dry? I never have been able to keep one of those
alive, the humidity in my area is just too low.
The last one I gave away when it did much the same thing as you
describe above.  I gave  it to a couple with an attached greenhouse
containing a small pool. Lots more moisture than in my house. It did
great for them.
Good luck,
Terri

Hey, thanks for reminding me -- I haven't watered mine this week.  I
never forget to water outside, but, boy, my poor indoor plants.  Anyone
else have this problem?

Cheers -- Julie

Where are you located and what is the temp of this room?  Sounds like watering
once a week isn't enough.
