Shrubs deer won't eat?

Post by becke.. » Sun, 05 Feb 1995 00:33:43

I am ready to plant some shrubs around the house but I want to be sure the deer
won't eat them.  I live near Houston,TX and can someone tell me what I should
purchase?

Anything but shrubs.  If the deer are hungry enough they'll eat anything.
There may be some that are lower on their list - but once they run through all
the other foods on the list they will eat these too.

From years of talking with homeowners I have come to believe that if deer
are hungry enough they'll eat anything.

Go to your local Ag Dept.  They should have a list of deer "resistant"
plants.  Deer's tastes differ in different areas, so what's deer "proof"
for me may not be deer proof for you--EXCEPT for poisonous plants, i.e.
pointsettias, oleanders, foxglove, etc.
