Question about Rat behavior

Post by fantolini1 » Wed, 05 May 2004 10:33:39

Hi,

I have a male Rat about 4 months old. I have had Rats before but he has a
behavior I'm curious about. He sometimes stands in the corner of his cage
and does a *** behavior just stands there frozen with his eyes closed
and his head pointed up. The females I had would do this *** stance,
but I haven't seen a male do this until now.. He gets plenty of attention
and is very spoiled and Loved and is more out of his cage than his in it. He
also lays down and rolls over to be petted. I thought Rats don't roll over
because being on their backs makes them feel vulnerable.

i don't know  about the standing in the corner bit but my rat rolls over to
be petted it's also to him play fighting he loves it he pretends to runaway
then comes running back for a "Fight" some rats are just like that enjoy it
because many aren't, it really is a trust and bonding thing i think, out of
my 6 rats he is the only one that allows me to do this.
