help!! sick rabbit

Hello everyone,  My rabbit is acting very strange.  He is being very
quiet and calm.  I found him at his water dish lying in the puddle after
having tipped it over.  I have him wrapped in an old sweater and he is
awake but just not as energetic as usual.  I keep him loose in the
ba***t and I'm quite sure he hasn't ingested any poison.  However, he
is quite the nibbler and I'm afraid he may have eaten something.
He seems content here laying next to me.  I have had him for three
years.  What is the life expectancy of rabbits.  By the way I am Russell
and his name is Roger.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks

I am worried about your rabbit, too. If poison was within his range, he
may have eaten it, poor thing.  Is there an emergency vet near you?

Maybe the local posion control center (it's for people--they have 24-hhr
numbers) might be able to suggest an antidote if he has eaten rodent
poison.

What is Roger's regular diet?  Does he get grass hay on a regular basis?

Sounds to me as if Roger needs some serious help, fast.

A well cared for house rabbit can live 10 to 12 years or longer.

You've got a very sick rabbit, Russell. If there's an emergency vet within a
couple hours drive, get him there ASAP, he may not last through the night.
Aside from that, it wouldn't hurt to pump some Simethicone/Phazyme into him.

Take him to the vet ASAP.

Rabbits in captivity live 5-10 years easily, and some become ***agers.

Maybe it's time for a check-up at the animal hospital, just to be certain.

Roger didn't make it.  I checked him at 4:30 am
and he was okay, but at 8am he was dead.  He was my third rabbit and my
last.  I'm going to miss him.

Oh Russell! BIG Hugs as we all know how painful it is to lose a bunny
friend. Do you know the story of the rainbow bridge? It will give you
something to cling to in your grief that has been a very great source of
comfort to me and my son when we lost our Snowbelle. I have lost the link to
it with my failed hard drive, but if you search on Rainbow Bridge and pets
on the web you will find it; it is very popular.

I am so very sorry. Perhaps after you've had time to grieve Roger's passing
you will find it in your heart to give a loving home to another bunny. You
may want to have an autopsy done on your sweet Roger to find out what the
cause of death was, just in case he did get into something.  It could've
been a spider bite or so many other possibilities...

Laurie, Jon, Rosie, Patches and from the Bridge, Snowbelle (binkying with
the newbun Roger who just passed through apr in time to join the APR Buns at
the Bridge crowd!)

Roger didn't make it.  I checked him at 4:30 am
and he was okay, but at 8am he was dead.  He was my third rabbit and my
last.  I'm going to miss him.

Oh that is so sad.  I am sorry for your loss.  Roger will be greeted by many
friends at the rainbow bridge.  I hope time heals the pain you feel.
