best friend adopting NYC bunny!

Well, it's funny how these things work out.  Remember my post about
trying to help find homes for quite a few bunnies in NYC and how I'd
be thrilled if we could save just one?  Well, yesterday, out of the
blue, my best friend announced to everyone that she is getting a bunny
for Valentine's day this year (she's telling her hubby it's for their
son, but SHE has wanted another bunny for years - hers died when she
was a ***) and that *I* am going to find one for her.  lol.  I
replied, "I am?" and she said "yes!".  We are making plans for a NIC
cage and the bunny will have a whole room to him/herself (and the room
door locks so the kids and cats can't get in the bunny room without
supervision).  I told my friend about the babies in NYC and that they
are part Harlequin and need a new home in early Feb.  She grinned and
said she has to have one (she'd steal Hannah if she could).  She
already even has a great bunny vet (he neutered her gp 13 years ago
when other vets wouldn't even see a gp in their office and does
rabbits all of the time).  We are all very e***d about this as we
will get to save at least one bunny and he/she will have a great home.
Plus, I get to visit when I go up each month.  lol.  I'm sure as soon
as the bunny arrives she'll be logging on here and I'll have to drag
her to Bunfest with me. lol.  We're working on a food/hay/veggie/treat
budget and looking into the spay/neuter and vet costs so she can start
saving now.  Her son Patrick spent a long weekend with us this fall
and absolutely fell in love with Hannah.  He's only 3.5 years old, but
is so gentle.  He spent over an hour on the floor just talking to the
bunnies and gp (he told them all kinds of stories and when he asked
them questions, the gp squeaked back).  He pet them so gently and
never tried to pick them up (they had two cats when he was born, so
he's always had pets around and is trained to be gentle and not pick
them up).  I also mentioned that bunnies like to be in pairs so she is
going to try to convince hubby to get two the same sex. :)  I can't
wait to transport them up there.  Of course, that means I'll have to
come down to NYC to pick the baby or babies up one weekend in early
Feb and visit Nhu, Jeanne and Nona.  Maybe we can plan a BunHop for
that weekend! :)  Of course Mickey will have to join us and maybe
Ronie and Michele????  I love Bunhops in NYC!  Laurie, you should
start looking at Priceline.com and get us all a room and you a plane
ticket!  Can you tell I'm e***d?  New bunnies and getting to see all
my bunny friends.  Woohoo! :)

A very e***d bunny auntie to be!

Good news for a lucky bunn.  There is a good home in the future with lots of
good food and room to run.

Sometimes one can make an impact and not even realize it.  The bunnies at
the bridge are nodding their approval, Stacey -- I'm sure.

That's great, Stacey! You have my vote for Bunnitarian of the Year...

February is good for a hop in the city (weather permitting). In January, Lisa
and I hope to hop down to MD to deliver Snowflake to Judy (weather and parental
units permitting, hehe).

Hey Cypher, I didn't hog all of them, just 4 out of 5 ;-). When I saw Precious
I had to let go of Snowflake because they're twins. The only way Judy will be
able to tell them apart is by the color of their eyes. Precious has red eyes
and Snowflake has brown.

Well, it should be the first or second weekend in Feb (I'm trying to
dig up the date of birth email and figure out 8 weeks from there).
Unfortunately, I can't take the train in from Stamford this time as
they said they wouldn't allow pets on the train and I'll be bring the
bun(s) back with me so I'll need help figuring out my route.

Hey, you know, everyone should probably bring a carrier with them,
just in case! <EG>  lol.  Bunhoppers and 6 adorable baby bunnies could
be a dangerous combination.  I'll probably try to get Friday and
Monday off that weekend.  Then I can drive down Friday, stay until Sat
or Sun, come home, drive to Maine to drop bun(s) off, stay 'til Mon
morning and come home again.  I hope it doesn't rain this time so we
can do some site seeing too.

Laurie, let us when you can come!  I think we can be somewhat flexible
on the weekend as long as the babies are at least 8 weeks old.  I'm
too e***d to see everyone (then I can deliver my holiday cards in
person since I might be done by then!).  lol.
