Not true; popular Urban Legend. It's a very widespread tale with several
variations but you'll be hard pressed to produce any credible
documentation. Jay Leno is hardly a benchmark of veracity.

Interesting, obvious urban ledgend but what's most amazing is that someone
posts that it IS true because it was in the newspaper and on a talk show!!
Now that is AMAZING!! Maybe they'd like to buy this bridge I just happen to
own. <g>

And just what does any of this have to do with rabbits??

 Illustrates one difference between rabbits and humans.  Rabbits are
less credulous.  Common sense is useful to predators but essential to
prey.
