I can finally get a rabbit!

Post by Edyrabb » Sun, 20 Jan 2002 10:15:43

Hi!
Maybe you remember about a year ago when I sent a message about how I am a
rabbit lover who lives in an apartment with a new "no pets" rule. Now, I am
finally moving into a house!
We recently bought a house and are moving in at the end of January. I am very
e***d, and one of the first orders of business afterward will be getting a
rabbit! I am going to start looking for breeders in the area, because pet
stores mistreat their animals and have a bad selection.
I have been waiting all my life to get a rabbit, and finally I can! I have also
been saving money for this, so my rabbit will live in luxury! Later, if my
parents agree, I might get another (in a seperate cage, of course!).
Thanks for all the help, support and ideas you gave me before. Now I can
finally use them!
Thanks!
-Erik
P.S. Keep your fingers crossed!

Why don't you try checking www.petfinder.com instead of a breeder?

I would really recommend going to a rescue and rescuing some little homeless
bun(s).  You usually only have to pay a small fee, and there's so many homeless
buns out there who need homes...

Why go to a breeder, when you can go to the local HRS/humane society/
whatever instead?

PLUS, most shelters/rescuers have the buns spayed/neutered, which saves a
TON of money.  :)

Sommer, Isobel (I was rescued!  Yippee!) and Holliwood (Will they take her
back?)

Get two, so each *** friend has someone when you're out.

I'm a pretty new bunny owner myself, but after all the research and the experience
I've had so far with my two I'd definitely recommend getting two and letting them
stay together.  Apparently introducing two rabbits can be a bad experience
sometimes, but after having two that are bonded I can't imaging keeping them in
solitary.  After all, it only makes sense that rabbits need physical contact with
others of their own species.
Good luck!

its tough in lots of places to GET a bunny from a rescue, as many of
them require home visits and only let them go to neighboring counties.
i tried, but there arent any bunny rescues close enough to me to have
that be sensible. many humane societies get bunnies, but rarely, in my
experience..... good luck either way :-)
