Is my new bunny OK

Post by Howard Hawk » Sat, 15 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I have a 2 week old Dutch that the mother would not feed.  We have had it
for 1 week.  We are feeding esbilac and heavy cream.  All seems fine.

Just yesterday, its stool/pills changed color from a dark color to a off
white/cream color.  It still is hard and pill shaped.  Is this something I
should be concerned about.

Thank you
Howard

Technically, 2 weeks is just too young to be separated from the mother.
Although you appear to be following a valid substitute procedure, are you
certain that the baby shouldn't be put back with the mother until age 6 weeks?

HI Howard,
Are you sure the mother isn't feeding it? You usually will not see the
procedure as the feed in early morning. Also you can hold the mom over the
baby to allow him to feed.
