Hi

It's all on the FB site but we got Matilda, an English Spot Mix bunny, (or
rather she chose us) after Panda and Little H.

We had her spayed and as occasionally happened with surgery she operation
went wrong. At first things looked normal but on about the third day she had
a long swelling both sides of the wound. 2nd surgery was to open her up and
clean out the collection of pus etc. which seemed to come out encapsulated
and entirely. A few days later she was carrying her left hind leg and we
thought she had strained it somehow. Back to vets for a check-up, and she
was diagnosed with further a infection. 3rd surgery to open up the wound and
clean out all the foreign stuff which was very extensive and comprised
necrotic fat tissue and of a slimy pus like (but not smelly) liquid. All was
cleaned out but the wound left open to heal and for access for aftercare.
Baytril was not effective and we were given a stronger antibiotic to be
injected 8 hourly. At one stage she developed a bleed which put us into
shock but fortunately stopped itself. We had to feed her critical care after
each anaesthetic for 2-3 days but otherwise she had tolerated things
remarkably well.

It is now about 6 weeks and she has 2x weekly vet visits and the strong
antibiotic. It will take a long time to heal and another op when she finally
will be sewn up, we think. In the meanwhile we are trying to keep a
boisterous bunny quiet!!!!!!!!!!

This is great news. Thanks, Richard, for going the distance with Matilda.
Most folks would have had her put down but you know the value of rabbits.
Thanks for being such a great bunny guy too. This world needs more men like
us.
