Yea, lots get lost. I lose thousands to the filter system. It seems that
once they reach 1/2" to 1", they're pretty well safe from others eating
them. Problem is though, over a year or two, you'll have more fish than is
healthy for your pond. The culling is tough unless you have lots of friends
with empty ponds.
