My expansion pond now has planting pockets, but should I use
them or stick with baskets?

I'd put the baskets in the planting pockets. When you go to divide you can
lift it out and put in on a table, so easy on the back. In the pond you'll
have to drain the pond down and work bending over on a slippery surface.

I'm with Jan.. go with baskets/pots. They offer a more controlled way to
remove/divide plants easily, without creating a mess in the pond, plus they
allow you to apply local fertilization, as needed.
Happy ponding,
Greg

baskets vs pockets

My big concern with liners and pockets is that plants such as canna or
lillies may get their growth buds INTO and then through the pocket liner.
They will break pots, even thick ones.
