I am digging my first pond in the back yard, and I must succeed or my wife will kill me.
Our ground is mostly clay and rocks. The reason I decided to build a pond is so I may walk out
into my back yard without boots. Most of the yard is wet, for about 9-10 months out of the year,
and some parts of it is always wet. I hope to drain some of this water with the pond.
Since I am in Northeast Ohio, we can get quite cold here, and there is a special micro-climate
around here. If there is an inch of rain in the neighboring county, we get at least 3 inches.
Same with snow.
I already have a trench running out of the pond, since overfill is pretty much expected.
Questions: 1. Do I need a liner?
2. If not, will not having liner cause algie problems?
3. Are there any plans out there that will survive in poor ground such as mine,
in particuliar some natives?
