clear but last night the lights revealed a whole wadge of weany
beasties  in there all around the lights.

Some things were maybe 3mm long with weany little eyes and a small
tail. There were loads of them yet my fish are not ready to mate yet
so it aint fry. I have frogs but they aint taddys for sure. Anyone

we added a rope of lights under the overhang of the pond (cant be seen
except on reflection in the water) and it is just magical.  the fish are
much friendlier at night coming up to my hand.. no wonder the raccoons got
easy pickings.  INgrid

Steve,

I'm in the process of building my pond, and was wondering what
type of lights did you install, what type of wattage are they,
and how many in relation to size of pond etc.

Cheers
Mark

Well now you got me. I bought   a set for 44 quid. 3 Lights, with a

gallons.

Here is pic after my setting it up 4 months ago if you want an idea.

I have turned the bell fountain down (:-) and made a few changes since
then. The 3 cheap lights work fine for me.

Hello Steve. It could be the lavae stage of a dragon fly. I see them
all of the time here. The will also eat baby fish. Unless your fish
have been reading they might not know they are two young. I watched
a koi from last years hatch involve himself in the spawning activities
this year. Some times they don't do or act like the book says.
cheers,
tonyf

I for one have 3 lights in our pond driven off of a single 12
transformer which incorporates a timer.   The unit is good for 141
watts.  The two lights in the pond are 20 watts each the third is a
smaller unit marketed as an "egg light". I use it to shine up into the
water fall.  It takes 11 watts.   My pond is roughly 11x16 feet and
somewhat of an asymetric peanut shape.  The two provide a pleaseing
illumination I think - not bright everwhere - pleasing shaddow for
mystery.   I placed one at the end of the pond near the shimmer and the
second at the middle side pointing across at the water fall.

They were purchased at a Home Depot.

Okay .. enough awreaddy!!   Now I gotta have lights.  I think I'll look for
the rope type for under the deck ala Ingrid.   Then, I'll execute my version
of a swan dive into the pond and string them across.   Should be really
stunning.
