Turtles on the half shell or not?

Post by Jeff Wickersha » Tue, 11 Jun 1996 04:00:00

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!
I live in south Georgia and have recently finished and stocked my pond
(approx 1/2 acre in size) with Bream and minnows for starters. My pond
seems to have attracted turtles as well.  Do they serve any useful
purpose in the Eco scheme of things or should I terminate them.  Don't
know what kind they are. Thanks from the bewildered pondmaster.

If you build it(pond), they will come.

Chances are, you will have large snapping turtles which will take your finger,
arm and leg for food. They are like those frogs, just have to learn to live
with them unless you want a dead pond.
