I need an online Koi food source?

Post by Sandr » Fri, 19 Apr 2002 07:32:55

I know this has been asked in past but I didnt pay close enough attention to
it. I used to get my koi food from a  local ranch feed place. It was in an
open bin and type/condition was suspect. Where do you who buy koi pellet
food online get it and what brand name do you prefer? I'm almost out of food
for these guys and their eating more than last year.
Thanks!
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I purchased from Pet Warehouse ..

http://www.drsfostersmith.com

I got the Hikari Wheat Germ (for spring/fall - 8.99 USD/17.6 oz) and
Hikari Staple (for summer - 6.99USD/17.6 oz). They have it in larger
quantities as well. The main reason I got that brand is they have the
mini-pellets and I have nine baby Koi.

I buy from Aquatic Eco-Systems, www.aquaticeco.com   Buying a large bag is
way cheaper for me then buying a small bag locally.  An example is, Hikari
Koi food, their Staple food is 11 lbs for $48.95.   I have only 5 koi, but
they will blow through this bag by the end of the summer, if not sooner.
BTW, I got a flyer in the mail from Aquatic.  They are having a sale on AZOO
Koi food, buy two bags, any size, and get one free.   Sale ends 05/30/02.  I
just couldn't pass this up.
(no affiliation, etc.)

Thanks Wendy, I will check into that. I hear ya on the food consumption.
Mine didnt eat much in years 1-3 but at 5 years old most hose down that food
at this point. A 'sale' on food sounds good right now.
