humane mouse trap

Post by Sandr » Wed, 21 Apr 2004 09:35:54

I lurk at this group and keep pet mice,  but today I am looking for the
instructions for a humane mouse trap which I've seen here before as a friend
has a wild mouse living in his house and needs to remove it.
Thanks
Sandra

Flykiller posted something along these lines last year - I will try to
describe it as closely as possible...

You will need two empty food cans with the lids removed - one must fit
completely inside the other so they can't be of the same size.(when
you insert one into the other, put them open end to open end so that
you've effectively got a sealed can again)
In the largest one, cut two mouse sized holes at the bottom.
A card is folded into a V shape which holds the upper can up, inside
this V is the bait (peanut butter or bread etc.)
When the mouse goes into the lower can and disturbs the card to get
his lunch, the upper can falls down sealing the holes in the
sides....you can easily tell when a mouse has been caught as the upper
can has fell down.
