New pet rodents forum

Post by Neo Geshe » Thu, 15 Nov 2007 19:07:07

Greetings!

I have decided to fire up a new forum for pet rodents. Yes, there are
plenty out there, but I believe that I can make this one work.

What I need now are members. Please come and sign up. Every post and
every member will take this forum one step closer to being successful.

Anyone and everyone is invited, so long as posts remain on topic and
people are civil. I also need mods, so those that have been active on
other forums are welcome to be set up as mods here, as long as they have
proof of previous performance.

The site is:
http://forum.petrodents.ca/

I still have some work to do (mostly visual formatting), but most of the

Thank you,

What you need now is a clue. Rabbits are not rodents.

You are absolutely correct.

And if you had visited the Forum, you would have seen that I put the
Rabbit forum in the Non-Rodent category. I even added a locked sticky to
the Other & ***s forum explaining where the Rabbit forum was.

So yes, I do know that rabbits are Lagomorphs. They have four upper
incisors, instead of two, which makes them non-rodents.

I just thought of patronizing the rabbit newsgroup, because it happens
to have more posts than all the other rodent newsgroups combined. My
main intention is to make this a healthy and viable forum as fast as
possible, and I can only do that with a large and healthy posting
population rabbit owners and enthusiasts included.

So if you are a rabbit owner and/or enthusiast, please feel free to drop
by my Forum and become a member!!

Sincerely,
Neo Geshel

Actually, chinchillas are part of the Chinchillidae Family, which is
part of the Parvorder Caviomorpha (cavies exist within this same
Parvorder, but have their own Family). And if you go up a little
further, you will see they are all within the order Rodentia.

Ergo, this makes them all Rodents, cavies included.

Read up on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinchillidae

Cheers,
...Geshel.

Sorry, but I was just trying to be factually correct and scientifically
accurate. Guinea Pigs are rodents, along with Chinchillas. You may not
like it, but thats Science.

although there is a movement in the chinchilla community to have them
relabeled.  there are articles that in fact support a different genus
for chinchillas.  they are "rodents" in the list because of  their teeth
only.  and their incisors mainly since their teeth cannot be cut the way
a vet cuts rat teeth.
