Can young mice have heart attacks?

Post by kev » Mon, 25 Mar 2002 03:50:06

I brought home 8 ***ager mice...Not ***s, not hoppers... anyways this
morning I was trying to determine their sexes so I was moving them around
lots.Well about an hour later I looked in and one was laying on its back
paws up...

I thought maybe he got beat up by one of the other mice but when I looked
him over I couldn't find any marks at all...

Its as if he died of natural causes... But he was so young...

Any ideas?

Probably just stress, but I have to say I have seen one or two, '***ed'
rodents in my time, and they don't always show any bite marks etc.

Sounds like it was maybe just an unfortunate happening, keep an eye on your
other mice though just in case there is a potential health problem.

Good luck with the remaining 7!

it happens sometimes, especially with inbred mice.  they'll just up and keel
over.  even normally bred mice will sometimes suddenly die for no reason you'll
ever figure out.  it's not common, but it's not rare either.  you just have to
deal with it.
