Well Im not sure what happened but I have lost all but two of the babies
now... they all seem to die like they are sufficating but there is no reason
for them sufficating!!! Im really starting to wonder if there is something
wrong with the milk I am feeding them... Petsmart was out of the powered
espilac and I got canned and ever since I switched they are all dying
slowly.... As we speak I think Im loosing the other two babies... They were
soooo great yesterday.. and now they are doing sooo bad.. I dont get it!! I
dont think these guys are going to make it through the night but Im sitting
with them and hoping... and I dont have any more milk to switch them to...
plus I dont think they can handle the change either way....

I stoped writing this message due to the fact that one of the two left has
died.. tommorrow I am taking the milk I bought to my vet to see if it was
the cause and if so I am going to write a complaint letter to the comany. If
this bottle is bad that means the whole stash is bad and I dont want some
other person's puppy dying of this stuff.

Dear Angela,
I hardly know a thing about mice. But I know much about hamsters,
and have raised one litter from 11 days of age, and another my husband
and I attempted to raise from 4 days of age. The first one I mentioned
is doing great. They are now about 5 weeks old, and you'd never know
they almost didn't make it, except that some are smaller than others.
The second litter I mentioned didn't make it.
I dont' know if that one little mouse is still alive or not. I
surely hope it is though! What are you feeding it? For hamsters, low
iron baby (human baby) formula is best, not puppy milk replacer, as my
vet told me. This is what I and several others have sucessfully used.
The puppy milk is suspected to be too heavy for their bellies.
One other suggestion. I belive you said the older ones (of which
one is still living) is eating some solids. Have you tried baby food?
(human) This is what my 9 little guys that made it practically grew UP
on, along with the low iron baby formula. It has plenty of protein
(important for hamster babies, I dont' know about mice) and liquid.
And they LIKED it, which was very improtant. (They didnt' like the
milk. I had to force them to drink it! Not easy with a 1 1/2 inch long
pink squirmey!)
Anyway, I am so sorry about the little ones you lost. Don't blame
it on yourself at all, you did the best you could.

         Sincerely,
