I ate Ms Ladeda's brain and got the following quote stuck in my teeth:

Quote:
>what am i going to do with all these hamsters?

Hmm... they're too small to pelt... not enough on 'em to make soup... Have
you thought about Ebay? [1]

[1] No, I'm not serious. [2]

[2] Yes, someone would have asked.

Perhaps the pet shop you bought the hamsters from will accept the babies for
sale once the little ones are 6 weeks old.  Some pet stores do pay for
babies, but most don't.

You could put an ad in your local newspaper also.

By any chance, are you located in Pennsylvania??  I had been thinking of
getting at least 1 more hamster (male!).

I Love that Rabbit comercial!  It's on here in Denver all the time and I get
such a kick out of it!  Ha Ha!
I still don't know what to do with our babies.  There are 8 black bears and
I have talked to a pet store and they want to buy them but I hate supporting
them!  I had just called out of curiosity and they nearly freaked!  I'll
have to sulk over it a while. I've got 3 weeks to decide.

If they're that popular, could you advertise them?  You'd at least know they
were in good hands meanwhile.

I called to put an ad in the Denver Post and it was $60 for 30 days!  i
asked how much for 10 days but they don't do part months!  I really thought
that the newspaper ad would do it but not for that amount of money!

That sucks!

Free community newspaper?  Local classifieds website (we have a great one in
L.A.)?  Bulletin board at the grocery store?  Hamster mailing lists?  Local
4-H Club?  Our local pet stores that don't sell pets sometimes have a free
bulletin board for ads.

It's a club for young people.  Very good programs.

Talk about having crazy amounts of hamsters.....

I used to have around 5 or so male hamsters.. the first ones I ever got.
Everytime I went to the pet store to get them something, i'd come one with
another hammie... all were from the same store, and that store only carried
males.

New Years Eve a few years ago, I went in search of a female. (was supposed to
be getting my place ready for the party that nite.) After several hours, i
found one at this little pet shop, but it looked really sick.  The only other
female they had was nursing her 9 babies.. maybe a week, not more then two
weeks old.  So guess what I did?  I bought Momma and all 9 of her babies (6
boys, 3 girls), because I couldn't resist some of them, and there was no way I
could break up such a young family.  I paid nearly $80 for them, and that
didn't even include a cage to put them in.  Had to go to one of the larger
chain pet stores for a cage & other supplies at a decent price.  When I
finially got home, I was $100 bucks broker then when I had left, and 10
hamsters richer... but most importantly, 4 of them were female.  =)

I lasted nearly 3 months before i bought 4 dwarfs and a huge cage near San
Diego, CA, on my way home, which at the time was a little North-East of San
Francisco.  And i was driving... the scenic route.  I finially got home nearly
22 hours later.

A couple months ago I was looking in a little pet shop for some pieces to
attach to one of my cages.  Didn't find what I was looking for.  Instead, I
bought baby hamsters, and when i parked my car at home, i took them out of
their box and hid them in my coat pocket so I could hopefully sneak them in the
house past my boyfriend without him seeing.  I got bit a couple times, but
wasn't too bad.  Put them in an empty cage.  BF still hadn't noticed.  The next
morning he wakes me up and asks me if I knew there was a black-&-white hammy in
one of the cages.  He hadn't noticed the golden one hiding in the same cage til
i told him it was there.

I admit I  have an ***ion.  But I can't help myself...  Is there a support
group for me?  Am I the only member?

Almost every small, privately-owned pet store that I know of (except one)
within 100 miles of me would prefer I post something in their store then bring
them something alive that they would just have to take care of and feed until
