my hamster is dying

Post by taiket » Fri, 03 Nov 2000 08:08:09

My hamster of 1 year has wet tail. It's eyes are also shut (why?). I don't
think its really drinking much either. It ate some food last night but not
much. And today its not sleeping like it should, just kinda flapped out. Its
still breathing. It will probably die today or tommarow. I can't wake it up. It
won't look up at me or move. Dayum =/

Yes, if it's wet tail it will die.

Get it to a vet!
And very, very soon. Hours count!

my hamster is dying

My first hamster died from wet tail this week. My vet didn't realise it was
wet tail and just gave it some antibiotics for diarrhoea. When it was dying,
my vet advised putting it on a towel on a hot water bottle and holding a
water bottle to it's mouth and wet tail makes them very dehydrated.

best of luck

I'm sorry to hear that. It is unfortunate that so many vets don't have
enough experience with hamsters...

Good luck. Try to find a new hamster to give a good home.
