Sleeping with pouched food

Post by Hele » Wed, 12 Sep 2001 02:51:44

Does anyone else's hamster sleep with food in it's pouch?  Button is often
asleep and then when awake rakes something out of his pouch to eat.

He's also becoming more settled and will sit with me for a little longer
now - yey.

My newer Syrians do that for a while, then later tend to deposit the nummies
in their bed and scrounge them as they sleep and wake.  I watch for it as a
sign of security, but there are still always individuals who will make odd
choices for their own reasons.

I have had some photos of Button up for a while now at:

I don't know if you saw these before but I have no really recent photos and
these aren't brilliant but ... I like to show him off anyway.

Button also stores food in his bed and in his house (which he no longer
sleeps in).  He's stopped storing as much food as he used to.
