Mum at last!!

At last, my sow Britney has given birth. I heard some strange sounds in the
early hours of this morning but thought it was just some cats fighting. When
I got up later I discovered that Britney had had her first litter. Not 1, or
2 or 3 but 5 babies. They all seem healthy and are suckling well. Some have
even shown a little interest in solid food.

I have picked each one up but have not been able to sex them yet. I will try
to sex them later this week. The children have already decided which ones
they want and thankfully they all like different ones. The father is a
crested guinea pig and all the babies have a crest like him.Two are similar
colouring to him - tri-coloured and the other three are similar to the
mother with varying bits of white.

Is there anything special I should put in the cage for them to feed on other
than dried food and vegetables?

Hi Nicola

Congratulations on the birth of your new piggies!  :O)

The babies won't need any special food, but you may want to give their
mother some Broccoli or Kale.

John.
