On posting incessantly negative threads -

I am absolutely blown away that humans who proclaim to be so enamored of
and compassionate toward our beloved cavies can be so biting and
relentlessly vindictive to one another.

Something appears to be broken in these participants to some degree. I have
not witnessed such behavior since kindergarten. Frankly, I get more than my
dose of stress at work and on the evening news. I don't expect this
behavior outside of a Jerry Springer show.

Why on earth would someone ENJOY bringing stress or distaste to others so
much so that they *broadcast* their fellonious intents, only seeking more
negative reactions from the newsgroups?

Yes, I have the opportunity to filter out selected messages/authors. BUT -
I *need* the knowledgeable advice from some of those wonderful folks who
happen to be perpetuating this ongoing p*ssing contest, and I do not want
to eliminate those people from my cavy community.

I don't want to leave the group, and I hope that we do not discourage
others from asking questions which will, ultimately, result in a better
level of care and quality of life for their piggies. I suppose this is the
paradox of the Internet. It offers such great potential for a higher good,
but just as easily acts as an incubator for the darker side of the human
psyche.

Before I sign off from my empassioned rant, I wish to thank all of those
wonderful folks who have blessed my newsgroup experience with their advice,
anecdotes, personal joys/sorrows and great senses of humor - you have been
of immeasurable value to me and to my piggies.

Thank you for listening.

-Sal

Sal,
I don't really know you at all.  I just hope that you aren't lumping
all of us in with Judith with your statement.  I recently began
responding negatively at her with her hairless notes, etc...  I sank
to a new low and I'm not really sorry about it yet.  You should post
your note as a NEW note, many people are skipping by this thread.
Thank you for what you wrote, I am sure that you do not think that
your behavior is above the rest of us here.  Everyone has the
possibility to be upset from what they read and lash out.

Regards,
Carolyn

My own experience is that it is only a very few who bring their personal
"stuff" to this place.  Most folks are just here to enjoy and share piggy
lore.

I agree with you Carolyn.  I do not normally act so aggressively, but
certain things that were being said did raise my temperature somewhat!!
I've now killfiled a certain person, I hope I'm not tempted to ' un'
killfile, just to be nosey.  I came onto this group to share my interest in
G.P.s  and didn't realise the interest went beyond the basic care and love
of the HAIRY little critters.  Just because I'm not commenting any more
doesn't mean I agree all the time.  I don't regret anything that I said and
could of quite happily kept responding but that just loads the gun for a
certain person ( sorry, can't type the name).
