Sick Pigs

Post by Mike Landolf » Fri, 20 Mar 1998 04:00:00

My friends pigs have been loosing weight and then suddenly dying. She
has lost quite a few. Some of the sick ones were yawning over and over.
Is this a characteristic of a certain illness or a coincedence?
Any help would be appreciated.

It could be that they have eaten something poisonous. Gpigs sometimes
look like they are yawning when they have something wrong with their
stomach or something stuck in their throat.
Sometimes Gpigs can get a bladder infection which makes them drink a lot
and loose their apitite. As a result, they get very thin and eventualy
die but it can be treated by the vet (the infection, that is, not the
death:). I doubt it will be this if it's happening to a lot of them
though.
