Has anyone successfully trained a ginny-pig to go to the washroom in a
little litter box in the cage. If so can you give me ideas on how to do
it?????

It has been my experience that you can "lap train" guinea pigs not to
urinate on a person who is holding them, but I've never been able to
train one not to defecate.  My vet thinks that they might not be
completely consciously aware that they are defecating, rendering
litter-training impossible for waste product "#2".

Please tell me how to "lap train".

I have two piggies that couldn't be more opposite in this respect.  Both are
female.  Cocoa has *NEVER* peed on anyone (despite being held on lap for
several hours at a time), but Kitty is like a sieve, and doesn't seem to
care where she pees.

Cocoa is also litter-box trained.  Or, should I say, we put the box where
she goes, and she continues to go there.  :-)

Hi,

I could be right. When I allow my 2 GPs to get out of the cage, there
(almost) never urinate on the floor (a chance, it's carpet everywhere). The
cage is open, and they can urinate is the cage. But they poop, poop, and
still poop where they're like to stay between two popcorning sceance. It's a
big problem when they're out every days for 3 or 4 hours !!!
